Myopia--or nearsightedness, as it can also be called--is when close objects look clear, but distant objects appear blurry. This happens when the eye is too long in relation to the curvature of the cornea, so that the images are not focused on the retina, but before it.

Myopia is corrected with eyeglasses with minus (-) graduation. LASIK surgery is also an option to correct myopia without the need for glasses.
